The recent events in america with the police and also the people being killed by them, has my heart heavy. I wanted to create a song that reflected what we wanted as a nation but also speak for the policemen that are also doing a great job at serving their community. This was hard!
I thought about the word “Freedom” and what it means (the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint) and its definition spoke to the very things I’ve struggled with for a large portion of my life. I want to be free!
I want to speak my heart and operate within my freedoms and not be killed for them. I want to respond to injustice without being considered racist or people to think that I am attempting to create division. I want to be free, I want freedom.
So I created a song that speaks to all of those things. I think in a way, we ALL just want to be free! #Freedom
