Adam Cunningham started his colorful music career at age seven while singing in his family’s music ministry in his home state of Iowa. He grew up singing any chance he got. They played at churches, banquets, gospel sings, radio stations, and local television.
As a high-school student he began to drift away from God, depending only on himself. It wasn’t until his second son was born that Adam found himself reaching out to God. At that time he decided to do something with what he new best…music. He took his young family to North Carolina where he furthered his desire to work on music. “God has given me the ability to sing and write music. If my life is His, then so is my music,” says Adam. Here he served as worship leader for a couple of churches, including Calvary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem.
After a time, he was given the chance to work with long time producer and music industry veteran, Michael Omartian in Nashville, Tn. There he recorded his self-titled debut album, featuring tracks such as “You Are My God” and fan favorite “Don’t Let Go”. “You Are My God” enjoyed much radio success. It was number one in major markets and reached #21 on the CRW Chart.

While in Nashville, Tn he served as worship leader at many places around the area. He sang as leader on Dove nominated “The Word Alive” and Dove ward winning “His Renown”. He then decided to move to Alabama and lead worship at a church which allowed him the time and opportunity to work on his second album. Adam says about this sophomore album, “I have always wanted to be real and not a “poser”. I feel that this album is 100% who I am.”
Rob Rappaport fell in love listening to the album. As a lover of great music of all kinds, he decided to sign Adam to Better Angels and take his music to the next level. Cunningham says, “ I am very excited to be with Rob Rappaport and Better Angels. I love the vision and the appreciation for music and what it says.” The label that boasts about having a family-like atmosphere has taken Adam in and made him feel like a brother, or cousin, okay… a creepy uncle.
