In yet another bizarre apparent demon possession, a woman collapsed to the ground before letting out a blood curdling scream in a supermarket.
Video footage shows a woman dressed in black meandering through the aisles when a package collapsed behind her. When she reached to place it back on the shelf, she appeared to be overcome by something else.
Her body convulsed and she collapsed to the floor. Fellow shoppers approached her, and one man even appears to perform an exorcism after she shoved him away.
Globally, more and more exorcisms have been caught on camera.
Earlier this year, a Muslim imam attempted to cast out demons living in young women.
“It can not be controlled, they stiffness in the limbs stiffen, they scream, yell,” said the principal, Gervais Fontaine, according to a translation. The incidents occurred at Jean Lafosse College in France, and number nearly two dozen.
“These are phenomena that we know very well in Mayotte,” Muslim exorcist Raqya tells IP Reunion.
“We often see spirits come on people, but it’s always in specific locations, in a temple for example, but not outside. Here it’s not normal,” one mother said.
Even the mainstream media caught wind of the growing epidemic and the spiritual warfare necessary to eradicate demons.
“It is a big phenomenon,” J. Gordon Melton, a Methodist minister who directs the Institute for the Study of American Religion, told ABC.
“By conservative estimates, there are at least five or six hundred evangelical exorcism ministries in operation today, and quite possibly two or three times this many,” Michael Cuneo, a sociologist at Fordham University, said.
