“Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Mys Ree was oddly fascinated with music from a very young age. With countless musical influences from varying genres, her curiosity to learn more grew as she was exposed to the art behind the sounds of music and their origins. She began writing at the age of fourteen and collaborated with some local Christian rappers who helped her develop a name for herself. Mys Ree, a name that derived from her childhood nickname, “Ree-Ree”, became aware early on that her music was a medium to inspire people through the power of words. At fifteen she was given the opportunity to open for Reach Records’ recording artist, Tedashi, at a local youth event that ignited a new fire for music within her. Only months later would she release her first mixtape, titled “One Way”. This mixtape would serve to be the basis for her musical growth and would catapult her into the forefront as an “artist” but most importantly as a music minister of the Gospel.
On January 6, 2012, Mys Ree released her anticipated debut EP, titled “No Jesus No Life” that declared to all of her fans that she was most definitely here to stay. With a phenomenal response, “No Jesus No Life” appears to be a mature, timeless piece of work but merely the beginning for Mys Ree. Her musical intentions remain the same; she plans to redefine the meaning of Christian music by providing innovative and inspirational compositions that give hope to the hopeless.”
