Atheists, agnostics and freethinkers “invaded” Washington, D.C. this weekend to show politicians and the American public, alike, that their voices matter in the political sphere. The Blaze already told you about the Secular Coalition for America’s lobbying training that we attended on Friday morning. This event was just one of the many celebrations and meetings surrounding the “Reason Rally” — supposedly the largest gathering of non-believers and skeptics in world history.

The rally, which included performers, speakers, activities and plenty more, was intended to celebrate non-theism, while taking aim at faith and religion in the public square. Although the overall tone was focused upon atheist empowerment (and the vast majority of individuals we spoke with were respectful and willing to speak candidly about their beliefs), off-color comments and anti-religious sentiment were prevalent among those taking the stage.

From 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., the National Mall was filled with several thousand secularists who chanted, laughed and cheered — all in the name of secular humanism. Many times throughout the speeches and performances atheists were encouraged to “come out” and show their non-belief, as numerous attendees we spoke with likened the atheist struggle to that of the gay rights plight in America.

Perhaps David Silverman, the controversial president of American Atheists, summed the event’s purposes up most appropriately when he told the audience, “God is a myth. Closet atheists, you are not alone.” Freedom From Religion Foundation co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor later added, “Nothing fails like prayer.”

In addition to these two individuals, the atheist invasion of sorts included addresses from famed scientist Richard Dawkins, a video message from comedian Bill Maher (which was as offensive as could be expected), an address from teen atheist Jessica Ahlquist, a performance by the band Bad Religion and plenty of others. It was essentially an “all stars” event that included the secular world’s biggest celebrities.

I spent the day covering the event with The Blaze’s multimedia producer Benny Johnson, interviewing dozens of atheists and documenting the day’s happenings. From volunteers to secular bigwigs like Gaylor, we were able to speak first-hand with some of the atheist movement’s most intriguing figures.

Below, see a preview of the coverage we conducted. In the clip, you’ll meet an atheist dressed up as Jesus riding a dinosaur (yes, really). The man, who claims he’s from Toronto, ended up being a fixture and mascot of sorts at the rally:

The ethnically diverse, yet predictably singularly-minded group of attendees embraced a very simple message: Atheists are here, the collective is growing and the time has come for non-believers to speak out in unison.

In what seemed to mimic a religious revival of sorts, those in attendance seemed elated over their new-found ability to coalesce. Among those we spoke with, many felt intrigued, inspired and encouraged to learn that they aren’t alone — as Silverman noted — in embracing a non-theistic worldview.

Take, for instance, Daniel and Joelle Leone, a husband and wife from Philadelphia. Joelle, a nurse, says she had never met any other atheists. While she was more than aware of her own non-belief, finding a support system has been important to her. When a friend at work told her about the Reason Rally, she became interested and convinced Daniel, a police officer, to come along with her. The experience, she says, was a positive one.

“What I left with was, for me, feeling like I really should join something to let my voice count for something and to let others know what I believe,” she explained, going on to say that it was refreshing to learn that there were so many others like her who are dismissive of the notion of a higher power.

Daniel, though, had a different perspective. While he enjoyed the event, he seemed a bit jaded by what he saw as the more “radical” elements of its adherents.

“We met a lot of cool people, but they seemed to really be radicals — like that’s all we would talk about. I don’t want it to rule my life,” he said. “Now that I’m older – I’m 40 — it’s just hard to believe in some of the religious stories like Noah’s Ark.”

In the end, though, Daniel, too, said, “I just like it that I’m not alone.”

Another woman — a Catholic professor at a northeastern university who declined to provide us with her name — attended the event out of interest. Despite her belief in Jesus Christ, she told The Blaze that it was important for non-believers to make their voices heard. While she found herself conflicted with some of the day’s tone, she said it may, collectively, provide a much-needed balance.

“I looked for the rhetoric and the construction of the message. I think that some of the message was divisive,” she explained. “But I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing…it might be good to anchor extremities on the other side to balance it out.”

Here, of course, she was referring to the extremities she sees present on the religious right.

In the end, the event attracted some notable counter-protesters. Christians from across America held signs that encouraged non-believers to embrace God. And the infamously-radical Westboro Baptist Church also attended. The latter group came to protest a speech by atheist Nate Phelps — the estranged son of the radical cult’s leader, Fred Phelps. Westboro members came holding signs that read, “God Hates You” and “You’re Going to Hell,” among others.

NEWS VIDEO: Nicki Minaj says, ‘Church’ Saved Her Family, Calls ‘God’ Her Hero

By Christine Thomasos , Christian Post Reporter

Nick Minaj, 29-year-old New York genre-bending rapper, recently spoke about how the church saved her family, and how God is her hero.

Minaj, who recently released her second studio album titled, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” spoke with The Guardian magazine about how her parent’s violent marriage was saved after they began attending church.

In an interview on “Nightline” earlier this month, Minaj said she wanted to kill her father Omar when she was a child due to his abusive past as a drug addict.

“I wanted to kill [my dad]. I used to wish he was dead,” Minaj said in the interview. “We were afraid for my mother’s life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst he would threaten to kill her.”

However, Minaj told The Guardian that her father turned his life around by going through rehabilitation and being saved in church.

“He’s still with my mother. He went to rehab and cleaned himself up,” Minaj said. “Eventually they started going to church a lot, and he got saved and started changing his life. He’s away from drugs now. He doesn’t instill fear in people anymore.”

Minaj also told the publication who her heroes were: “God. And my mother.”

Although Minaj showed her spiritual side to the publication, some members in the Catholic community have been less than happy with the rapper’s actions.

Minaj first caused controversy when she appeared on the red carpet of the Grammy awards show in a red robe with a man dressed as a pope. During the performance of her song “Roman’s Holiday,” the rapper imitated an exorcism and levitated while using a large amount of Catholic references tinged with sexuality.

Bill Donahue, president of the Catholic League, criticized Minaj’s performance and questioned if the rapper-turned-pop star was possessed.

“Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy,” Donahue said in a release by the Catholic League.

Marcus Plieninger, Director of Policy Studies for the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, accused Minaj of trashing the Catholic faith.

“Minaj’s anti-Catholic performance highlighted not only the decadence but also the selective tolerance rampant in the entertainment industry,” Plieninger told The Christian Post.

However, Minaj has previously given an indication of her faith, tweeting about Jesus Christ last Christmas. The entertainer tweeted John 3:16 to close to 8 million followers over Christmas 2011.

“For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son; that whosoever believeth in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life,” Minaj tweeted.

NEW VIDEO: CHAZ MILES- “Feelin Alright”

Chaz Miles grew up in Pueblo, CO. He began singing in gospel music at age six and was raised in a Christian environment, as his mother and grandfather are pastors.

Despite his emersion in the church, Chaz’s talents were best displayed in sports early on. Miles played football at Pueblo Central High School. His high school history included being named a three-time all-league and two-time all-state honoree. He also earned the title of team MVP two years in a row. He was also was named an all-state athlete in basketball and track and field.

After graduation he went on to play football and study speech communication and religious studies at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. What began as a chance to fulfill his childhood dream of a ticket to the NFL as a Wide Receiver for the Rams, resulted in a call to music when a career ending knee injury was quickly followed by a Myspace message from an intern at S and J Artist Management and Consulting in California.

During his time at CSU Chaz became in integral part of Iasis Christ Fellowship in Fort Collins, CO. He became the Worship Leader under head pastor Johnny Square in 2008 where he served until 2011.

In 2009, Miles and the Iasis Worship Band wrote and recorded “Daddy,” Miles’ first worship CD. The project was a huge step for Chaz and the band selling over 1,500 copies.

2010 marks the beginning of Chaz’s launch of his music ministry vision Heartbeat. The release of Chaz’s first solo LP, “The Difference” was much awaited by many of his loyal and growing fan base. Featuring tracks from top industry producers, like Ric Rudd, “The Difference,” was only the first step of many to come!

In 2011, Chaz kicked off his “The Difference Tour”, and was able to share the Gospel with over 100,000 people, and watched thousands of people dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ. With this momentum, 2012 looks very promising.

NEWS VIDEO: Woman breaks up a fight by claiming the blood of Jesus

In the video below, two African-American males are fighting each other in a parking lot. Everyone else is standing around watching the tussle when out of nowhere, a brave woman steps in to break up the fight.

She didn’t have any weapons, she continually kept shouting, “The blood of Jesus Christ!” Pleading the blood still works because the two men stopped fighting.

NEWS VIDEO: Nicki Minaj Performs Satanic Ritual No. 2 at Grammy’s to Top Satanic Superbowl Show

EVIL ON PARADE – Nicki Minaj Shown Here Entering the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards with an Actor Mocking the Pope While She Adorned Herself in Witches Robes

Evil Nicki Minaj should be cast from the earth for her disrespect and sacrilegious anticsEvil Nicki Minaj

Many Grammy attendees were heard voicing their disgust for so-called artist Nicki Minaj. Blake Shelton was heard saying, “Nicki Minaj needs to crawl back inside the fiery pit she came from… back to her father, Beelzebub.”

Nicki’s disturbing performance at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards was a blatant attack on the Catholic church. No one is sure why she has such disdain for the Church but many actually believe she is simply evil and it reflected in everything she does and every song she sings and every performance she gives.

It might be easy to excuse Minaj as just using these type of theatrics simply to get attention and sell records. But many argue that is not the case here. Friends and family admit Minaj had embraced Satanism when she was a child around 14 or 15 years of age. because her music is quite bad and most critics criticize her for having no talent whatsoever.

Nicki Minaj SatanicNicki Minaj Satanic “Shout Out” At MTV Awards

Other critics of Minaj believe that no one in their right mind, who does NOT worship Satan would play her whole career on “on all things Satanic” as Minaj does. This is no game. This is real. Many stars in the audience were heard murmuring such things as, “Minaj should definitely seek professional help. Normal people dont play like this”

If the stage was set as a Jewish Holocaust, or a black slavery set or some kind of mockery of Muhammad and Islam glorifying slave owners, there would be outrage. But because its the Catholic church that Minaj is mocking, somehow it’s allowed.

Evil Nicki Minaj

Never has a more evil rotten satanic performer been given the chance to grace the stage with such music greats and perform for so many top rated stars and have them sit there through it.

The Grammy show consisted of an exorcism, levitation and a demon possessed Minaj. She had an actor portray a priest attempting to exorcise her. Minaj believes she is the demon possessed spirit of someone called Roman.

That same actor priest had accompanied Minaj into the Grammy awards earlier wearing a Pope’s pontiff and robes. Many in the Christian community, not just the Catholic church are outraged that the Grammy producers would allow such blatant mockery and disrespect of the Church.

The Catholic church is outraged. Bill Donahue will be speaking out about it on the Monday morning talk shows, no doubt.

The argument is that no performer would be allowed to perform a show mocking the Holocaust or Black slavery, or the Muslim religion. And they are right.

Minaj’s home life growing up was traumatic and chaotic. Her parents apparently fought with each other a lot.

She developed an escapism which consisted of creating fictional characters (demons) she she would often live her life through them. In an interview with New York she said, “To get away from all my parent’s fighting, I would imagine being a new person. ‘Cookie’ was my first identity – that stayed with me for a while.

I went on to ‘Harajuku Barbie,’ then ‘Nicki Minaj’. Fantasy was my reality.”

With Minaj’s debut album she created another alter-ego named “Roman Zolanski”. Roman, the “Demon within Her” Was on full display Sunday in her shocking Grammy performance.

Minaj stated that in songs like “Bottoms Up” with Trey Songz it is not Minaj rapping, but instead Roman Zolanski. Nicki claims that Roman is her “twin sister”. She claims that he was born inside her, out of rage, and becomes him when she is angry.  She has also stated that, “Roman is a demon inside me”.
