Born in Oakland and raised in Los Angeles, California, Epic had been in various rap groups before settling into a solo career. In the beginning with no real desire to rap, Epic’s gift was writing. He would write short stories and scripts for movies and plays. As a shy child Epic would find peace in writing, but God had an entirely different plan for his life. During his teenage years his brother formed a rap group called Divine Quest. The group at the time consisted of P.S. Shar (Epic’s brother) and a friend. His brother felt that the group needed a third member and with some encouragement from their mother Epic joined the fold. Little did they know that this arrangement would birth a great desire in Epic to master his craft. Epic has been blessed to share the stage (in ministry) with Gospel greats like Kirk Franklin, Tonex, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, Brent Jones & The T.P. Mob, Idol King, Frost T, Spiritual Pieces and producer Rodney Jerkins.
Epic also has been blessed to minister at The Rose Bowl for Billy Graham’s farewell crusade. Epic has also been featured on City Van for the TBN network, has a video “Like it” in rotation on the Word Network and CCC’s (Crenshaw Christian Center) Sunday telecast & DVD. Epic has truly found God’s divine purpose for his life being a messenger for Jesus to the hip hop culture. Now as a Youth Pastor he has been rejuvenated with a new vision to lead youth back to God through many forms of ministry. Epic’s new project “The Re-Introduction” is a CD that has come after a two year lay off.
This new CD features many of Gospel rap’s finest (Brinson, Ty Scott & Flo to name a few) with all the proceeds going to Crenshaw Christian Center’s own on10 Student Ministries Pastored by DeAndre’ Burns (Epic himself). Epic pushes himself to deliver music that challenges and rivals mainstream music. Now with The ReConnection Tour he strives to be the blessing to the next generation of emcee as well as those that enjoy the music ministry. To be that person that God has bestowed on his life (in the beginning) so he can continue to be a testament of His goodness. .. ..
